DELAYS in renovating the Newcastle Ocean Baths pavilion have forced Newcastle City Council to pay $25,000 for accommodation for the building's caretaker.

The caretaker is staying in temporary accommodation, but the cost blew out when the project hit problems.

The cost estimate in October 2007 for the caretaker's relocation was $10,000, but by December 31, it had blown out to $25,000.
